I’m a children’s writer and aspiring fiddler who lives in London and loves finding new tunes to learn, particularly English and American Old-time. For several years now I’ve plagued my musical friends with emails full of links to tunes I’ve discovered in my online rambles – tunes that I’ve not heard played or taught much, or that simply catch my fancy. So instead of all the emails, I’ve started this blog to share the tunes I long to learn and play with musical friends.
Mostly, they’re tunes I haven’t learnt myself yet, or have never really got to grips with, so I’ll be learning them alongside my readers. And if some turn out to be fiendishly difficult — well, I’ll only have myself to blame!
From your fan across the road – such a great blog and today’s is superb!

So glad you’re enjoying the blog, Maggie – I suspect you got a good American laugh out of my Last of Harris story!
